KX Pilates is a combination of traditional Pilates with the strengthening and toning aspects of circuit training. Our dynamic, fast paced, high performance classes are performed on a spring resistance apparatus called a Reformer Bed, specifically customised for KX Pilates and our dynamic style of training.
Well, you’d be surprised. Fitness fanatics through to professional athletes are turning to KX Pilates to compliment their sport specific training. KX Pilates can make you more resistant to injury, correct weaknesses and enhance core strength and postural alignment.
Yes, you have to be over 16 to attend a KX pilates class. Our method of training and class delivery is designed for the adult population group rather than youth. Teaching 16 years and younger is not something we cater for in a group class setting.
Just bring yourself, a water bottle, and a towel. Grip socks may be required — if you don't have a pair, you can purchase them at the studio. Everything else is provided, including the Reformer and any props used during class.
All KX Pilates classes are 50 minutes long. We recommend arriving 10 minutes early, especially for your first class, so you can get set up on the Reformer and meet your trainer.
You can book classes through the KX Pilates app, our website, or by contacting your local studio directly. Simply select your studio, choose a class time, and confirm your booking.
Classes must be cancelled at least 9 hours before the scheduled start time to avoid a late cancellation fee. No-shows will also incur a fee. You can cancel through the app or by contacting your studio.
Our Intro Offer is designed for new members to experience KX Pilates at a special rate. It gives you access to multiple classes over a set period so you can get comfortable with our workout style. Check your local studio for current Intro Offer details.
It depends how far along you are. If you are new to KX Pilates, we ask that you not start our classes until after your pregnancy. For current clients, you can attend group classes but only until you’re 13 weeks along. After this, due to our dynamic movement and faster pace class, you can no longer attend group classes. This is also the recommendation given to us from the RANCOG (Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists), as we teach a lot of dynamic stretching, supine and prone exercises which are not suitable for pregnant clients.
We do however recommend you either have a private session or attend our Pre/Post natal or Parents & Bubs classes. For further information, please download and have a read of our Pre and Post Natal Exercise at KX Information Sheet.
We offer pre-natal and post-natal classes at selected studios, specifically designed for expecting and new mothers. Always consult your healthcare provider before starting or continuing exercise during pregnancy, and let your trainer know so they can provide appropriate modifications.
In many cases, yes. Reformer Pilates is low-impact and our trainers are skilled at providing modifications. However, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider first and informing your trainer about any injuries or conditions before class.
We recommend arriving 10 minutes before your class, especially if it's your first visit. This gives you time to check in, set up your Reformer, and chat with your trainer about any questions or modifications you may need.
Yes, we offer both 1-on-1 and 2-on-1 Private Classes. If you would like Private Classes with training tailored to your specific needs, please contact your local studio directly.
We ask that you wait until after you receive the all clear from your 6 week GP/Obstetrician check up to make sure that everything is healing well and there are no diastasis recti (abdominal separation) issues.
For safety and insurance reasons, children (including babies) are not permitted in the studio or reception area during classes.
Select studios offer dedicated Parents & Bubs classes for those with newborns up to crawling age, so we recommend checking with your local studio for availability.
Please wait until you have received the all clear from your 6 week check-up. Complete the Post Natal Exercise Questionnaire and bring it to your first class. It is also strongly recommended that whenever you start back at KX Pilates after a break; ensure you begin again in a Beginner class.
For further information, please download and have a read of our Pre and Post Natal Exercise at KX Information Sheet.
You can only attend group pilates classes up until you’re 13 weeks along. Before booking your first group class, please contact your local studio for a list of qualified pre and post-natal Trainers. You must inform your Trainer what week you are up to at the beginning of each class, as modifications of certain exercises will be required. You must also have your Obstetrician complete the Pregnancy Authorisation to Exercise Form and return it to us upon arrival at your first class.
For further information, please download and have a read of our Pre and Post Natal Exercise at KX Information Sheet.
The Introductory Offer is only available to new clients of KX (first timers) and is activated from the date of your first booking.
You can only use the Introductory offer once per person and this cannot be used in conjunction with any other opening offer.
Yes you can, however you will need to create a new account at each studio separately, and purchase a valid session pack for each studio individually.
When starting at KX Pilates, we ask that you attend at least 10 Beginner classes to familiarise yourself with our dynamic training method, basic principles and exercises before proceeding to an Intermediate class.
We then recommend completing 20-30 Intermediate classes before trying out the Advanced classes. Once you’ve achieved an Advanced level you can mix and match classes to suit.
Not sure if you're ready to change springs? Chat to your trainer, and they’ll let you know if you’re ready to up a class level.
With a maximum of 14 clients per class, our classes can get booked out. We recommend adding yourself to the wait list for that class by booking yourself into the class as you would normally. Once you add yourself to a wait list, you'll receive an email confirmation of your request. When a place becomes available in the class you will be notified via sms or email.
To ensure fairness for all clients and to allow those on the wait list an opportunity to attend a class, once notified, you will have two hours to reply using the link supplied in the SMS or email.
If you do not respond withing the two hour window, or decline your place, you will be removed from the wait list and the place will be offered to the next KXer on the wait list. If you confirm your place you'll receive another notification confirming your place.
All of our classes include a warm up and a cool down. If you are more than 5 minutes late to your class then you may not be able to join, and your Trainer may turn you away from the class.
Unfortunately, no. We have a 9 hour cancellation policy for group classes and a 24 hour cancellation policy for private classes.
If you can’t make your class, please cancel or let us know at least 9 hours ahead (for group classes) or 24 hours ahead (for private classes) or you will lose that session.
We understand that life can sometimes get in the way, but we need to be fair to all clients.
Appropriate clothing is essential as you are going to work up a sweat.
We recommend gym tights, leggings or shorts and either a t-shirt or singlet top. Although most clients prefer to train bare foot, grip socks are most welcome.
Please arrive 10 minutes early to your first class. That way you’ll have time to familiarise yourself with the studio, meet your trainer and have a quick run down on the reformer.
If you’re late to your first class you might not be able to train.
You should always start with a Beginner class, even if you have done Pilates elsewhere or are quite fit.
KX Pilates uses a lot of small muscle groups, you’ll be surprised how challenging the class might be and may need to build up your strength.
You also need to familiarise yourself with the KX Pilates training method so that you can keep pace in our more advanced classes.
That depends on the individual.
Most of our new clients do just fine attending a Beginner class, with a maximum of 14 clients, the Trainer can modify exercises to suit differing abilities. Although still a workout, classes are broken down using simple exercises so all everyone can get the most out of their workout.
If you have chronic back pain, are coming back from an injury or are pregnant, a one-on-one session would be best to assess your situation.
We do however reserve the right for Owners and/or trainers to restrict clients to a particular class type for safety reasons if necessary.
